8 week course- $395
This class is formatted similar to a professional level scene study. The first of its kind, there are currently no other technique-based classes in this style offered for young actors in New York City.
Students ages 8-10 and 11-12 will be engaged in the basics of acting by learning to speak in their own voice, learning how to make informed choices in a script, and learning to listen and respond in the moment. These 3 elements will help unlock the doors to living truthfully in the imaginary world. No previous acting experience is required.
Class will be held once a week with a maximum of 8 students to create a learning experience that is both broad and individualized. Students will learn by doing, watching and listening.
Week 1: This first class will be an introduction to the basics. We will do a creative meditation and improv games to get settled and connected. Each class will start with these types of exercises as a warmup. In this first class, students will have a chance to cold read a monologue in the second half of class. Or, if preferred, students can bring a monologue of their choice that is new to them.
Week 2-3: Working with monologues, students will learn simple techniques and, most importantly, how to apply these techniques to create a truthful experience in their pieces.
Week 4: The last 30 minutes of this class will be an open rehearsal for parents to see the monologues.
Week 5-7: Students will be assigned scenes to work on with a partner. We will explore and refine this material with the techniques that have been introduced. Class will be 2 hours for these weeks as the first half hour of class will be for scene partners to reconnect and rehearse the scene before working in front of the class.
Week 8: The last hour of this class will be an open rehearsal for parents to come see all the hard work that has been done over the course.
All classes will be held at Shetler Studios in midtown.

Limited to one make-up session per 8 week course. We can also accommodate busy schedules with a video conference session.
Please keep in mind that this class will require students to spend some additional time with their material outside of class. This allows for the students to connect, personalize and simplify their choices with the scene work in order to bring their highest relationship with the material into class. We will talk more about this and how to do this throughout the course.
For a more personalized experience, individual coaching is available. We offer single sessions or we can design a program tailored to meet your child’s specific goals.
$75/hour in studio or via video conference.
